This role acts as a mentor to provide support, guidance and assistance to the indigenous employees. Liaison with other NRW project training personnel is essential in order to ensure all training tools and resources are utilized efficiently, effectively and consistently across Wheatstone Project.

David Peacock, Quarry Manager

David has vast experience with government and industry leaders in the mining and extraction industries. A hands-on line management executive with over 25 years’ experience, David provides exceptional planning and leadership skills, evident in his roles as Training Coordinator for several top tier mining firms.


In these roles he coordinated all competency based training and was responsible for mentoring and supporting Indigenous employees. Dave was at the forefront of VTEC’s delivery to remote areas of the Pilbara in Western Australia. He delivered the package in collaboration with Fortesque Metals Group and Thiess achieving an 85% retention rate of Indigenous employees. He introduced the VTEC Model of Training Principles to NRW where he a achieved over 60% local Indigenous employment.


He is recognised as a strong enabler for enhancing Indigenous training and employment outcomes, the establishment of active community partnerships with elders, communities, government and peak bodies as well as business and industry.


A proud WulliWulli man from the Blackall, Charleville and Augathella areas of Queensland David was independently recognised by Institute of Quarrying Australia as a Certified Practicing Quarry Manager in 2012.
